Assemblywoman Muñoz is a graduate of Skidmore College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing; she earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from Hunter College. She worked as a nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, in the Recovery Room at Mass General and Bellevue Hospitals, the Emergency Room at Lenox Hill Hospital and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the Ambulatory Care Center.
Assemblywoman Muñoz is the Republican Deputy Leader and serves on the Assembly Health Committee, Assembly Budget Committee, Legislative Services Commission, as well as the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. She was appointed by Chief Justice Stuart Rabner to the Supreme Court Ad Hoc Committee on Domestic Violence, and continues to work with members of the Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and the Legislature to ensure that excellent policies and practices are in place across the State to protect the victims of domestic violence. As a health care professional, Assemblywoman Muñoz has experience in both the delivery of health care and the insurance industry, as she was a Healthcare Risk Management consultant for Continental Insurance HealthCare. She is focused on the tremendous challenges New Jersey faces in terms of public health policy and needs.
Assemblywoman Muñoz is the mother of five adult children and four grandchildren and resides in Summit. She was the former president of the PTA/PTO at the grammar, middle and high schools, and President of the Presidents Council, representing all the schools. She was a member of the Safety Committee, the Communications Committee and the Traffic Committee for Summit, as well as a member of Summit Junior Fortnightly and other volunteer organizations in Summit.
